THE SPONSOR A CHILD TO LEARN PROGRAMME
The Social Work Department conducts needs assessments of prospective clients through home visits. A home visit report detailing the prospective client’s living situation, general appearance and health, economic status, education, and the social worker’s assessment and recommendations is completed and submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. Cases are referred to KIND from the national Family Service of Trinidad and Tobago, Ministry of Social Development through corporate sector individuals.
Assistance provided to clients includes:
| Clothing |
Clothing and finances are provided for the purpose of purchasing school uniforms, school supplies, shoes etc. |

| Tuition |
Financial assistance is provided to offset the cost of tuition and transportation for students attending special and pre schools. In some instances transportation cost is provided to students who attend regular schools based on the families’ economic status. |

| Food Hampers |
Monthly food hampers are provided to assist with nutritional needs. |
| |
|
| Parenting Workshops/Lectures |
On various topics such as conflict management, self-esteem, career guidance, extra-curricular activities and their value, and so on. |

| Counselling |
Clients are provided with counselling when deemed necessary. Counselling sessions are facilitated by either the Student Counsellor or by other relevant professional with whom we liaise. |

|
| Building Materials |
Approved individuals (clients) with children under 18 years old who request assistance repairing their homes are aided through sourcing of building materials. |
| |
|
| Appliances/Furniture |
Furniture and appliances are provided at full/partial cost to needy individuals with children under 18 years old |
| |
|
| Medical assistance |
Medical expenses (dental, vision, medical examinations, etc.) are covered when required. |

|
| Accommodation |
Assistance is provided to individuals who may have difficulty in locating accommodation due to an emergency such as domestic violence or medical emergency such as chemotherapy, medical procedure, treatment etc. |
